Food of the Week

Cabbage/Kapeti

Week 6's food of the week was Cabbage/Kapeti. Check out some of the things we learnt about our new vegetable.
  • There are 3 types of Cabbage we eat in NZ red cabbage, savoy cabbage and green cabbage.
  • Cabbage is good for our digestive system.
  • Cabbage take around 70 days to grow from seed.
  • We tried Okonomiyaki a Japanese cabbage fritter. It was delicious.
  • Cabbage was used a long time ago as bandages to help with swelling. We tried cabbage bandages and we thought they felt cold, sticky and slimy. 
  • We wrote imaginative stories about why we had to use a cabbage bandage to help with an injury.
